Jessica’s practice includes working with public, private, and nonprofit clients in a variety of contexts. She has represented employers and employees in litigation, having resolved hundreds of cases throughout her legal career. She has over a decade of experience in Oregon and Washington employment and labor law, civil rights investigations, litigation before both courts and administrative boards, and human resources. She now works solely as a neutral factfinder for various industries, including health care, education, public and private sector, non-profit and unionized settings.
She works with clients to find the best resolution, pre-litigation, for each case. Jessica provides advice and extensive training to employers on how to comply with their legal responsibilities and work with employers to implement their vision and value in the workplace. She is often hired as an external investigator to conduct investigations into sensitive and high-profile matters, including sexual misconduct, ethics violations, and harassment and discrimination.
Jessica has conducted investigations for the Oregon Department of Justice, Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industry, numerous law firms and, most recently, the City of Vancouver. She earned her J.D. from Willamette University and her B.A. from Occidental College. She is admitted to practice in Oregon and Washington. She leverages her litigation background involving discrimination, wrongful termination, retaliation, and other employment claims to assist employers balance employee rights and business needs.
She has also written and given presentations in a wide-variety of employment and labor-related topics, including personnel policies, affirmative action compliance, pay equity, discipline and terminations, wage and hour issues, disability, and reasonable accommodations, leaves of absence, employment contracts, unemployment, severance and separation agreements, reductions in force, and workplace health and safety issues. She has presented at Oregon’s largest legal seminars, other professional groups, as well as tailored presentations for personal clients. In addition to conducting workplace investigations and employment-related presentations, Jessica has extensive experience mediating workplace conflict, and coaching executives, particularly those facing accusations of sexual harassment, bad management, or exclusionary practices.
