Firm Members Active in Harmonie Group

Christopher Tompkins, Steve Goldstein, Karen Bamberger and Ryan Foltz have recently represented the firm at Harmonie Group meetings in Miami and Chicago.  The Harmonie Group  is a by invitation only organization of independent law firms. Before being invited to join, Harmonie subjects each firm to a rigorous review process to make sure the firm meets the group's standards, ethics and values. BPM has been an active member of Harmonie since 1994. 



John Braislin and James Nelson represent BPM at LAWorld in Dublin

John Braislin and James Nelson represented the firm at LAWorld's Annual Meeting in Dublin, Ireland from April 30 - May 2.  LAWorld is a network of 38 medium-sized, independent law firms from 24 countries with international practices that are well-established in their local jurisdictions.  The meeting focused upon opportunities in China.  James made a presentation detailing the unique qualifications of LAWorld's American firms.  LAWorld prouldly welcomed new members from England, Hungary, Poland, Spain, Albania, and Portugal."



Brandon Carroll Works as Pro Bono Counsel for Legal Action Center. 

Brandon Carroll volunteers pro bono legal services for the Legal Action Center.  The Legal Action Center advocates for low-income tenants on various landlord-tenant disputes such as unlawful detainer actions. BPM is proud to support Brandon in his work for this worthy cause.

Sean Malcolm Joins BPM

Betts, Patterson & Mines, P.S. is pleased to announce that Sean Malcolm has joined the firm.  Mr. Malcolm graduated Order of Coif from the University of Washington School of Law in 2004.  While in law school, he was Editor-in-Chief of the Shidler Journal for Law, Commerce & Technology.  He was also a Legal Extern for the Honorable John C. Coughenour of the U.S. District Court of the Western District of Washington.  Prior to joining BPM, Mr. Malcolm was a litigation attorney with a large national law firm and a litigation boutique.

Brandon R. Carroll Joins Betts, Patterson & Mines, P.S. 

Betts, Patterson & Mines is pleased to announce that Brandon R. Carroll has joined the firm as an associate in the Firm's Complex Litigation Practice Group, where his practice will focus on business transactions and complex litigation matters with an emphasis in real estate law.

Carroll received his J.D. from Seattle University School of Law, and his Bachelor of Science, with a concentration in Political Science, from the University of Washington.

Dana A. Henderson Appointed Chair of Young Lawyers' Committee 

Dana A. Henderson, an Associate at Betts, Patterson & Mines, was recently appointed Chair of the Young Lawyers' Committee of the Maritime Law Association of the United States, Dana will serve a two year term (2007-2009). Dana is a Proctor in Admiralty member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States. 

The objectives of the Maritime Law Association of the United States shall be to advance reforms in the Maritime Law of the United States, to facilitate justice in its administration, to promote uniformity in its enactment and interpretation, to furnish a forum for the discussion and consideration of problems affecting the Maritime Law and its administration, to participate as a constituent member of the Comité Maritime International and as an affiliated organization of the American Bar Association, and to act with other associations in efforts to bring about a greater harmony in the shipping laws, regulations and practices of different nations.

Washington Law & Politics names 'Super Lawyers'

Six attorneys from BPM were selected by their peers for inclusion in the June 2007 "Super Lawyers" issue of Washington Law & Politics.  The list is the result of 17,000 ballots distributed to active lawyers in Washington asking them to nominate the best attorney they have personally observed in action.

Steve Block Elected to Seattle Executives Association Board of Directors

Steve Block, a Director at Betts, Patterson & Mines, was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Seattle Executives Association. Steve's term will run July 2007 through December 2008. Steve has been a member of the Seattle Executives Association since 2004.

The Seattle Executives Association is an exclusive network of key business executives whose primary goal is to work collectively to build their businesses. Members create valuable, trusting relationships inside a community of more than 150 proven professionals. Each member is the only company in its business category, giving members a unique platform to market their services or products. BPM has been a member of the Seattle Executives Association since 1988.

Larry Gottlieb Elected President of Northwest Insurance Coverage Association

Betts, Patterson & Mines is excited to announce that Larry Gottlieb will serve as NICA's President, and Laura Gibson will serve as Secretary/Treasurer for the 2007-2008 term.

NICA is an association whose membership consists of (1) individuals who are employed by an insurance or surety company, broker, independent adjusting firm, or third party administrator and actively engaged in the settlement, evaluation, or defense of complex casualty or property insurance coverage claims, or extra-contractual claims relating to such claims; and, (2) attorneys who represent or give advice to insurance or surety companies, brokers, independent adjusting firms, or third party administrators with respect to the adjustment, settlement, evaluation or defense of complex casualty or property insurance coverage claims, or extra-contractual claims relating to such claims.
NICA's purpose is to advance the technical education and professional competence of its members.

Washington CEO Names 'Top Attorneys'

Betts Patterson & Mines is proud to announce that five attorneys are named ‘Top Attorneys’ in Washington CEO's "Top Washington 2007" Book of Lists.

Michael Olver a Seattle Magazine "Top Lawyer"

Seattle magazine and Seattle Business Monthly sent surveys to 7,000 attorneys in the Puget Sound area, asking them to name those lawyers, in several areas of practice, they would choose or recommend to a loved one for legal assistance.
The "Top Lawyer" list will also be published in the February 2007 edition of Seattle Business Monthly.
